2007-2008 INAUGURAL SEASON: THE FAMILY DYNAMIC

CAST - A Delicate Balance


Lavonne Byers (Agnes)
Lavonne recently appeared as Gertrude in Hamlet for Vanity Theatre with whom she previously appeared as Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Last year, she played Dr. Gorgeous in The New Jewish Theatre's The Sisters Rosensweig and Satan in HotCity Theatre's The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. Other favorite roles include Mae West in Dirty Blonde for City Players, and Big 8 in Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage for HotHouse Theatre. She has also performed as the Marquise in Dangerous Liaisons with St. Louis Shakespeare, as Mama Morton in New Line Theatre's production of Chicago, as Arkadina in Fontbonne University's production of The Seagull, and with ECHO, Mostly Harmless, TNT and Shattermask. Lavonne recently won the 2007 Kevin Kline Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in HotCity's production of Polish Joke, and was the recipient of the 2005 Riverfront Times Best Actress Award. Lavonne holds a BA in Theatre from St. Louis University; and an MFA in Acting from Purdue University.



Larry Dell (Tobias)
Larry is a native St. Louisan and has performed locally for more than 25 years. He has worked with Theatre Project Company, Orthwein Theatre Company, City Players, St. Louis Shakespeare, Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre, The Black Rep, Spotlight Theatre Company, Muddy Waters Theatre and The Midnight Company. His most recent performances include Ben in Death of a Salesman and J. Pednick in The Little Frenchy Files. He is most happy to be working with STLAS and numerous old friends!


Greg Johnston (Harry)
Greg is delighted to be a part of the exciting beginning of the St. Louis Actors’ Studio.  Greg has worked with several theatre companies in St. Louis over the last 20 years. He was last seen on stage at HotCity Theatre in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.  Earlier this year, Greg produced the RiverCity Theatre Production of Hamlet, and he directed the staged reading of Men with Clubs for HotCity’s GreenHouse program.  Next, you can catch Greg on stage at The Rep in Twelve Angry Men.  Greg is a proud graduate of the theatre program at UMKC.  It is great to work with some dear ‘older’ friends in this production!


Tamara Kenny (Claire)
Tamara has performed with a variety of St. Louis theatre groups including West End Players Guild, After Midnight, and St. Louis Shakespeare.  Most recently, she appeared as Louise in Muddy Waters Theatre's production of After the Fall.  Tamara is excited to be a member of the cast of A Delicate Balance and proud to be a part of St. Louis Actors’ Studio’s inaugural season.
Penney Kols (Edna)
Penney is thrilled to be a part of the inaugural season of the St. Louis Actors’ Studio, and to work with dear friends she has admired on and off stage for more than a decade. Penney was a company member of Orthwein Theatre Company where she acted with several of her fellow cast mates from this production of A Delicate Balance. Penney was last seen in the Orange Girls’ production of An American Daughter. In addition, she has performed locally with several other theatre companies including HotHouse Theatre, St. Louis Shakespeare, Midnight Productions, Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre, and Washington University’s Theatre Dept. Favorite roles include Halie in Buried Child, Sissy in Sordid Lives, Grace in Pterodactyls, Maria in Twelfth Night, Gail in The Houseguests, and Mrs. Antrobus in The Skin of Our Teeth.

Sarah Cannon (Julia)
Sarah is a ’99 graduate of the University of Evansville. Most recently she appeared as Bernadette in Say You Love Satan at HotCity Theatre and as Ophelia in Hamlet at RiverCity Theatre. Sarah has also appeared with Muddy Waters Theatre Company, Hothouse Theatre, Vanity Theatre, St. Louis Shakespeare, New Jewish Theatre, CityTheatre, and ACT Inc. Sarah was nominated for a Kevin Kline Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play for her work in The Crucible with Muddy Waters.
