STLAS and the Black Rep proudly present a co-production of Joanna McClelland Glass' play that centers on five couples in the Detroit neighborhood of Palmer Park following the race riots of 1967. Their integrated lives are threatened when the high-performing neighborhood school is forced to accept children from an adjacent working-class neighborhood. Racial harmony and friendships are changed forever with very sad and very real consequences.

Performances at the Des Lee Auditorium, Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.

Reviews

loquacious, compelling drama

Paul Friswold, Riverfront Times

Playwright Joanna McClelland Glass seems to side -- sadly -- with the pessimists in her interesting, thought-provoking, relevant play, "Palmer Park," a joint production of the St. Louis Actors Studio and the St. Louis Black Rep

Joe Pollack

Glass’ effort succeeds primarily in painting a realistic portrait of how racial and socio-economic divisions continue to strangle the American ideal of life
