After receiving the Medal of Honor, Sergeant Dale Jackson returned home from the war, but found everyday life too difficult. Tom Cole’s 1975 one-act play about a black Vietnam vet and his white psychiatrist is still eerily relevant. Jackson shares the same fears and anguish as today’s soldier returning home from Iraq, proving that the affect of war on America’s veterans hasn’t changed, no matter what the year, or where the fighting takes place.

Reviews

It would be hard to think of a young theater company in town more deserving of praise and honor, made up of actual artists who have a serious knowledge and intent, who have made for themselves a lovely new venue where cobwebs and clutter had been before. They pick very good plays, and very good actors, and seem to get very good audiences as a result.

Richard Green, Talkin' Broadway

Director David Wassilak, coupled with the workings of playwright Tom Cole, creates a provocative 60 minute performance that challenges one to consider war stories of the past and present.

Missy Miller, KDHX Radio

Bryan Keith portrays the fragmented Dale Jackson with the waning strength of a piece of charred yet magnetized steel.

Dennis Brown, Riverfront Times

For this play to even have a chance at connecting with its audience, there has to be a strong actor in this part, and Keith delivers the goods.

Chris Gibson, Playback STL
